shanghai..
get out! I am so happy about that.. Have you tried them and compared the taste to the hawaiian variety? Now I am afraid that it might have something to do with "everything tastes better in hawaii" syndrome!
I'm definately gonna bake up a batch of my favorite banana bread recipe with those, if I can find em over in bezerkely.. btw..my favorite and fail safe recipe is a slightly jiggered version of one found in the cookbook The Baby Bistro, which is, in my opinion, one of the best cookbooks ever..and not just for babies! Many less sinful versions of yummy recipes that really "work" and appeal!

ok, I made the Hawaiian bread last night and it is sooo delicious!! Thank you for the recipe. I did alter it some. I used fresh pineapple instead of canned and I added about 1/2 C. shredded coconut to it for another texture. I also used macadamia nuts. Amazing! And... it cooked all the way through. One loaf is already gone so I guess the family likes it!

Hi
I am sorry, I did not see your question Shanghainese..I think you should make it according to the recipe the first time and figure out the Nutella change after..since Nutella is hazelnut butter/chocolate and sweet, you will only need to work out the amount, which might be according to your taste.
Good luck!

Fantastic, laurenzo!!! So glad you like the bread! Mac nuts are a little rich for me, but I'm sure some in my family would like that change once in awhile! I will try the coconut variation also ... I'm a coconut lover! Next, try my potato salad ... it's an especially good recipe!

bonnie, I will try the potato salad. I don't believe I've ever made potato salad. By the way, I only used about 1/2 c. mac nuts, so they weren't overpowering. It just added a little crunch here and there. I had planned on freezing the second loaf but of course, that was impossible being that the first loaf was eaten in the first 24 hours!!

Scarlett--Glad this thread is still around, I came home today to a birthday package from a friend containing a panini grill from Williams Sonoma! I would NEVER have bought one for myself, but when I saw your recipe for the chocolate hazelnut panini, I thought it would be a fantastic dessert. Will try it Sunday, using Nutella and topped with a small scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Thanks for posting that recipe!

Thanks, Anne! Yes, it is really nice! This is my best friend (always feel like a junior high student when I say that but nothing else will do).
She came to visit a few months ago and sent me an entire luncheon set of bunny toile dishes. I was out of my mind with glee . . . and now this!

Oh, Ladies (and Gents) I do LOVE your recipe threads.
Bonnie, I almost bought some Hawaiian banana bread in the store today, but was sure I'd be disappointed. Glad to have your recipe - seems to be a good one based on the rave reviews! I will also be trying your potato salad.;-)
Starrsville, that potato dish of yours needs to be added to this thread.
Scarlett, I am so glad to have found your panini recipe! I lost that thread you posted it on recently, and have been angry with myself for not marking it right then and there!
Thanks, again!

HAWAIIAN BANANA BREAD:
1 Hawaiian
8 loafs of bread
3 green bananas
2 cups taro
1 shovel ground pork
38” DD cups (optional)
3 chickens, beaten
9 Keoki beers
2 mashed tires
1 crushed automobile, well drained
1-2 teaspoons plumeria extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 5 ingredients, then stir in cups. Combine remaining ingredients; add beer to mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Spoon batter into 2 greased size 12E loafers. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden stick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool loafers for 10 minutes; remove from oven, and let cool on wire hooks.
