Reasonable stay in New Orleans

Our group of 11 will be staying in NO Oct12, 13 & 14. Need some suggestions for a reasonably priced hotel in central location so we can walk to the local attractions. Can anyone help us?

Look into the Place de Arms ... good central location off Jackson Square. Nice courtyard pool. Hotel is old and some of the rooms can be small.

Look into the Monteleone on Rue Royal. The location is nice being one block over from Bourbon and within walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. Hotel rooms are average, but nice. It is also only in two blocks from Canal which makes it convenient if you want to try the local transportation. You can walk several blocks and get a trolley out to the Garden District which is nice to see. Good luck.

Both times I've been in the city, I stayed at a B&B in the Garden District. I can't remember the name right off, but found in the Let's Go USA guide.

It was MUCH cheaper than the French Quarter, and the trolley stop was only a block away, making a very quick trip to the French Quarter.

Plus, the Garden District is beautiful to walk around.

With a group of 11, the Monteleone is probably a good choice. Central location in the Quarter, reasonable rates, and decent sized rooms.

We just stayed at the Royal St. Charles. Great choice for an inexpensive price. No frills but nice, neat and clean. The location is central to all the major attractions. A block from the french quarter. Harrahs casino and riverwalk are also in walking distance. The St. Charles streecar stop is right outside the hotel.
Hope this helps.

Just remember that October and November are peak convention months for New Orleans so you need to book soon. Also, the Monteleone is an excellent locattion.
