REALLY SCARY Roads in Colorado
Who remembers "O My God Highway" -- the shelf road between Central City and Idaho Springs? Or the number one -- Rollins Pass via Moffat Tunnel and over the old wooden truss RR bridge. There were no guard rails -- in fact there was no road bed.

We drove up Mt. Evans a couple of years ago and I admit I kept my eyes DIRECTLY on the road. DD lived in WinterPark for a year and driving that pass was a test for me also.
But the interstates are not so far as a drop off is concerned. Downgrades require attention to speed and gear, IMO.

Gretchen, we drive Berthoud Pass often, and feel it’s a piece of cake nowadays, due to road upgrades and good snow removal.
Bitter, I hear you. I see those behemoth buses on the roads, and I wonder how much experience does that driver have. And are the brakes working!

I guess it is always relative. Mt. Evens and Loveland pass does require some attention but doesn't rise to a scary level for us. The scariest traffic I have encountered was the early morning truck traffic on I-80, 90 around the southern tip of Lake Michigan headed into Chicago.
