Well, whatever Kal said, I agree. He is my friend and I find him quite agreeable himself.
beachbum,
sumreknot, travel guide books are a good idea. You can get an idea of what really interests you..do some research, you get better advice when you have more of your own ideas.
And please, we are all grown-ups, you can keep your tent where it is..

BayouGal, huh?? Who's fussing? I think something was Lost in Translation. Must be the time difference.
The opera reference is an inside joke to some of us left coasters. Something about a California poster who thinks ***she's*** really an Oregonian.

"actually sumreknot, you should pick a different destination, one where the people who live there are nicer...."
I thought this might be tongue in cheek, until...
"if the shoe fits scarlett..."
Now, that's the aloha spirit, matnikstym.

S-knot:
here's what I would do.
Go straight to Ashland, you can make it in 5 hours.
Stop at Novak's in Albany for some Pastry and Hungarian Food. See a Play at Shakespeare, eat and drink our wine, cheese and fruits, and tour Crater Lake. Head 199 to the top of the Redwoods, then start North on 101.
If you stay in Bandon, Yachats, or Cannon Beach you'd get a lotta' coast. I like Astoria myself.
Then back to Portland for the remainder of your time.

...then stay in Portland your first and last days.
Head south bright and early the 2nd day. Novak's would be even better! http://novaks-hungarianrestaurant.com/

b'boy,
I may come up there just to eat at Novaks. ***yummy***!
Fine line between Polish and Hungarian grubski and I've crossed that border many times.
mat,
Quit pickin' on my Oregonian buddies.
I guess the offer to visit Da BI is rescinded?
Scarlett,
Are those the same shoes PamSF and ronkala wear? :-?
