Radisson Hotel New Orleans

I have to travel to New Orleans and just received word that my stay will be at the at the Radisson Hotel New Orleans. I'm a little hestitant after reading the reviews of this hotel. Can anyone offer me any advice?

It is OK but nothing special. I never felt unsafe but admit that this end of Canal Street is not as nice as the parts closer to the river. Also the front desk checked someone else into my room at 2am. Scared the bejezus out of me.

I have stayed there three times in the early/mid 90's. I never had a problem with the hotel. My rooms were always the biggest that I've ever had at a New Orleans hotel. The walk to Bourbon, river, etc. is a little long, but doable. At night, I would be cautious, but we never had a problem even when it was VERY late.

Have Fun!

Chazz,

Are you sure you are talking about the Radisson? I stayed there a few years ago and the rooms were very small. The main problem with the hotel is that the walls are paper thin. You will hear your neighboors every word. We were up to 1:00 am.

My fiance is actually staying there right now and he doesn't like it. Room very small and not very clean, service poor, front desk staff incompetent. When I called the hotel I had to try three times--the phone just rang and rang and no one picked up. He also doesn't care for the area, said last night it seemed a little too sketchy.

Yes, I was referring to the Radisson on Canal past the Joy theatre. I think that it is a rather old building (I think it is on the Historical Register, if I remember correctly) and there may be a great variety in the size of the rooms. I guess I lucked out when I was there, because our rooms were always big. (One stay there was free due to a promotional thing.) The area could be a little off-putting if you are not used to larger cities, but I and people in my group (all in our very early 20's at the time) walked from the quarter to the hotel every night very late. They do have a quarter shuttle, but we never used it. I hope that your trip is a pleasant one. Maybe call and request a larger room...
