Radisson Barcelo-just got back

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights this past weekend. We went with my cousin and his wife. The place was great. We weren't lucky enough to get the $99.00 deal I have read about, but we got the room for $129.00/night by contacting the hotel directly through email. THe staff was exceptional. Steering us towards restaurants that were within the price range and category we requested. When I had a problem with my tub draining and I call them, they were up in minutes. (turned out to be my fault)Anything we asked for was taken care of immediately. The room was great with a nice view. My cousin who is from Italy and has stayed in many of the hotels in major cities there, couldn't get over the size of the rooms and what was included in the room for the price. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hi Donna,
We are planning a trip to DC in August,
and were thinking of staying at this hotel. What "extras" were included with the room price?
Is the hotel within walking distance to
most sights?
Any info would be appreciated, as it is our first time to the area, and we are really looking forward to it.

Hi Donna:

THe Barcelo is in the Dupont Circle area. Not near any sites, except maybe the zoo and National Cathedral. But, I hear it is near a Metro stop, which they say is the way to tour WAsh. DC

Hi Jane,
The Barcelo is not within walking distance of the tourist sites. I am far from a expert on DC, but from what I can tell there is no hotel that would be within everything. The Barcelo is within just a very short walking distance to the Metro. The Metro is very easy to use and the staff at the hotel is very helpful with answering questions about it. The hotel is very close to tons of restaurants of all different price ranges and cuisine. To take a taxi from the hotel to the Air and Space Museum ran us about 10 dollars for 4 of us. Taxis are always outside so there is no wait if you decide to go that route.
As far as extras: bathrobes, coffee/tea maker with supplies, safe, blow dryer and iron and ironing board in the room. Rooms are huge. Other hotels have more but as a tourist and for the price this is all we usually need. We were on the go so much touring we just used the rooms to change and collapse at the end of the day. Email me if you have any other questions. Have a good time. Donna
PS There is a Starbucks right next door which was great for our Italian visitors to get there espresso fix.

Donna, glad to hear you had such a great time. I love the Radisson Barcelo and although you may not have gotten that $99 deal, it's still a steal at $129 and a fun, active neighborhood to stay in.
