Quick Dallas trip report
Hi all,
We just got back from a quick weekend trip to Dallas (actually Frisco) to visit our brother and sister in law and I thought I'd post a few places we went to if anyone is interested. We spent Friday morning at the Dallas arborateum-what a great place-the azaleas were in bloom and it was absolutely gorgeous. I'm always fascinated by the wedding traditions down there and saw a bride in full regalia wandering around with her mother taking pictures. I was informed that this was for her "bridal portrait"--apparently the bride's photo hangs at the reception--talk about being the bell of the ball!
Went for barbeque at Randy White's barbeque place in Frisco-great barbeque with choice of ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork. Right across from one of the few remaining ranches in Frisco too!
Spend Sat. at the horse races (Charlie Daniels was performing after the races but we couldn't stick around for it!) Then headed to Ft. Worth to Joe T. Garcias for dinner--I highly recommend this place on a nice night-the margaritas were great. You sit out in the garden and enjoy the night. The menu is limited-fajitas or enchalidas, but you also automatically get tacos, chips and salsa and nachos with your meal. After that roamed around the Stockyards-NASCAR was in town so we really got a Texan expirience! Definately a fun time though!

Just a note on the Arboretum. Too bad you missed the Dallas Blooms (which ended April 10) with >400,000 bulbs, mainly tulips.
I went on Good Friday, and I saw no less than 10 brides getting their "bridal portraits" done there.

All southern brides have bridal portraits done. It sits on an easel at the reception and then hangs in the parent's and/or bride's home(s) forever.
My southern daughter was living in Indiana when it was time to get her bridal portrait done. She had to explain to the photographer what bridal portraits were. I think he really enjoyed a new experience and took some great pictures.
The Dallas Arboretum is fabulous any time of year but spring is awesome.
