Question re: Fort Lauderdale

I'll be in Fort Lauderdale with my husband for a week in March (his conference). Any suggestions for activities, restaurants? We also like to snorkel. Does anyone offer snorkel trips out to the reef or is this too far north?

Thanks for any suggestions.

By the way, this is my first time reading this board and it seems to be very good and informative.

Try H20 restaurant at the Lauderdale Beach Hotel. Interior is nice for dinner, the outdoor seating is nice for brunch. Food was very good.

Take a water taxi ride and see some beautiful homes and yachts on the waterway and learn about the area. We bought the ticket that allowed you to get off and on again, and spent time at a couple of places along the way. We loved eating breakfast at the Original Pancake (or was it Waffle) House!

The nearest good snorkeling is at John Pennecamp park in Key Largo. This is a about a 2 hour drive but well worth it if you are serious about snorkeling. They have a boat that takes the snorkelers out to the live reef. There amy be a tour from Ft. Laudedale but I am not sure. Try doing a search and see what you come up with.
