question for Suzie re: CA120 and Tioga Pass

Hi Suzie, hoping you can answer tis for me. Going fishing on eastern side of Sierra's in June from northern California and usually go over Sonora Pass but want to go over Tioga Pass this time. My question is: is there a fee to use CA 120 passing by or through Yosemite ? Don't plan to enter the park but don't want to pay a fee to pass through or by.

I'm not Suzie- but YES.

To cross the Sierras on highway 120, from west to east, you must enter Yosemite park and pay the $20 fee. You cannot avoid entering hte park.

"Don't plan to enter the park . . . ."

How do you propose to do that?

Oh man, my DH just loves the fishing in the eastern sierra. Your question has already been answered. You will enter the park at Big Oak Flat on 120 and then turn left onto Tioga Road and exit the park before you head down to Lee Vining. You won't be in the valley but you'll definitely be in the park. Save your receipt cuz it's good for 7 days in case you need to drive back the same way.

If you get a chance make sure you stop at the Whoa Nellie Deli for soemthing extra yummy to eat. So much good food there so little time.

$20 is a bargain for driving through that gorgeous landscape.

It's $10 if you are 62 or older. And that pass is good for any National Park for the rest of your life.

6 months and counting
