The relaxation of the quarrantine isn't quite as simple as Tony implies.
You have to follow very specific guidelines in order to reduce the quarrantine period. If you meet those guidelines, then your dogs could still be held for up to 5 days (it's not an absolute that they will be released immediately by the Vet). You can see the PDF from the Hawaiian Dept. of Ag here:
http://www.hawaiiag.org/AQS/aqs-checklist-5.pdf
You will also have to have an OIE-FAVN Rabies test performed on the dogs no less than 120 days BEFORE you arrive in Hawaii. You also have to pay $165-$224 per dog for the early release program.
One of the things that will affect whether your dog is immediately released or not, is the health of the dog when it arrives. If the dog has any signs of illness (which can be the same signs as those for stress, etc.), it's possible that the Vet won't release the dog immediately.
Also, while sedation is done and is relatively safe, it should ONLY be done when absolutely necessary. Is your separation anxiety really an absolute necessity??

Starwood hotels (Sheraton, W, etc.) allow pets, though they do not encourage it.
I know it's not asked for, but I would never fly my Scotties to Hawaii, even from LA. Too many bad flying with pets stories. Anyway, be sure to closely follow the quarantine regulations or you'll end up without the dogs anyway.

TonyMnLA states this "we have 2 puppies, Puggles"....they're not Pugs or anything with a short snout, the beauty of the Puggles is that they have some traits of both Pug and Begal, they don't have flat faces.
I just did a little digging too, most cargo holds under planes have an area for transporting pets/live fish/baby chicks and other LIVE beings. I can't imagine they'd be tossed in with the luggage.
He mentioned that he has talked to a vet about traveling with his dogs, He doesn't sound clueless.
Again, this was a request for places to stay, not "hey wanna tell me how stupid I am for trying to fly with my dogs" free for all.
Can we stick to the topic please?

Tony-
The process takes about 6 months to get a dog ready for the 5-days-or-less quarantine. You need to follow it to the letter or the dogs will be put in the 120 day quarantine. The check-list link posted above gives you the details.
Besides the logistical problems of quarantine and flying, Hawaii is not a very pet friendly state. Many beaches do not allow animals, and the few that do, require them to be kept on a leash.
Very, very few condos and hotels allow pets. Many buildings have restrictions against pets, especially against non-owner occupants. Most Landlords see no advantage in allowing pets, especially in short term rentals. This is probably due to the fact that until a couple years ago, all pets were subject to a mandatory six month quarantine. Tourists arriving with pets is just not the norm.
I think you'd have a better time taking the puggles to San Diego or Portland. Much more pet friendly cities!
