Any one know anything about the Pritikin longevity centers? cost? where? do they work?

The Pritikin approach is a very low-fat diet combined with exercise. It works, but it is pretty stringent. Like most diets, most people find it difficult to adhere to it for the long-haul.

I have several books by Nathan Pritikin including "The Pritikin Program for Diet and Exercise" and "The Pritikin Permanent Weight Loss Manual". I also have a book by a former Pritikin associate, Ann Louise Gittleman, called "Beyond Pritikin". You may want to read one of these books to get an idea of the basics of the diet and exercise program. Good luck!

thanks...did check that one out but the website is not forthcoming at all on cost. You have to provide a fair amouint of personal info and they call you.. I have a husband with some major health problems who travels an enormous amount. Heard they do quite a bit to reduce drugs used by diabetics and heart patients so was looking for the "customer" side too,. Need ammunition to launch the fight so to speak... thanks for any info

Besides the one in Florida, there's also a Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa in Santa Monica, adjacent to the Loew's Santa Monica Beach Hotel. Perhaps if you called one of the centers they could give you a price quote or send you some literature? (In Santa Monica, (310)899-4040).
