Priceline hotel in San Francisco - where to stay?
Hello,
I am going, with a friend, to San Francisco from Sept 26th to Sept 29th (3 nights). We wonder what would be the best part to stay in SF. We are in our early 30's and look for good nightlife and nice walks. Price range: up to 150 USD / night.
Thanks,
gpm

I don't understand your headline. Do you want to know what section of the city to stay in according to Priceline's area designations or just what area to stay in generally with the Priceline reference being stray?
It also makes some difference whether you are straight or gay.

Your best bet to be near a lot of activities and being central I would bid Union Square East or West, then maybe Soma or Financial next. SOMA is a little more out of the way and seems very residential, but has good access to downtown area.
If I was bidding I would go 4 stars and you could work on the $$. If you want a boutique hotel, you may need a different strategy. Kimpton has a couple of nice boutique hotels in SF.
Your visit is during the week, which will tend to be more expensive, but the financial district would not be as deserted. It also depends on what you want to do, a walking trip through Chinatown or down to the embarcadero. If you want that "Tourist" experience, you may want to bid Fisherman's Wharf, but I have always stayed more center city.
I always use Biddingfortravel.com to see what the other bids have been successful. If you have a car and parking will be needed, that is another story because parking in SF is REALLY expensive.
I recently got a hotel near the Airport for $60 from Priceline that was a 4star, but it also had a parking fee.
Good luck

You really DO NOT want to bid in Union Square West!! If the hotels were all just around the west side of Union Sq that would be great - but they aren't. Many of the USW hotels are in tne tenderloin and other seedy locations.
USE, Financial/Embarcadero are the best two zones followed by Fisherman's Wharf.

Thank you very much.
#Ackislander: We are straight and would like to know what are the best areas to bid in Priceline.
# SEW: I usually use biddingfortravel.com; I would just like to know where to star bidding. I might try USE and Financial as my first bids.
Thank you all!

Start w/one of those. My choice would be Financial and cross your fingers you get the Hyatt. It is a FABULOUS location directly across the street from the Ferry Bldg/Bay and right AT a BART station. I've won the Hyatt 3 times.
But if you want to be closer to Union Sq and the shopping -- then start your bids in USE.
(Not quite sure why it matters that you are straight?? - especially when it comes to PL bidding???)
