Pre-theater lunch in Chicago?

Looking for suggestions for a yummy pre-theater (matinee) lunch the day after Thanksgiving. This is also to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday. thanks for the help!

What theater are you going to? This day is always extremely busy in all areas, so be sure to have a reservation wherever you go.

Going to be at the LaSalle theater, would like to have a place that we can easily walk from to the theater, since it is such a busy day. Thanks!

The Atwood Cafe, about 2 blocks away on Washington, is very popular for pre-theater dining. Whatever place you ultimately select, I cannot emphasize enough the need for a reservation. Crowds in the downtown area on the day after Thanksgiving can be almost impassable on some blocks. Last year we tried to go to the lighting of the city's tree and opening of the Christmas market at Daley Plaza and left after a very short time because of the size of the crowd.

A good source to check is Metromix.com. They will have pre and post theatre dining recommendations. I belive Petterino's is close by and around the block, I love Catch 35 on Wacker. Although primarily seafood, they do have non-seafood entrees. And it will be busy downtown that day!

My three favorite pre or post theater options are Atwood Cafe, Petterino's, and Trattoria No. 10.

Rosewood Prime is about one block from the theater. Though it is really a steak house, Rosebud is known for the best hamburger in town. We're going there next week for dinner before seeing Jersey Boys.
