Post cruise San Diego

My husband and I will finish a cruise in SD 10/28/14. We would like to spend an additional 2 or 3 days before flying home to Texas. We are looking for a place that is peaceful and relaxing (I.e. not a fancy or large resort) that is off the beaten tourist path. Nature is a big plus, ocean would be awesome. We are flexible with our return flights so closer to LA is also fine. Thanks for your help.

Hundreds of posts in here on San Diego lodging. As suggested do you want budget wise - and do you want to be close to the beaches.

Plenty of choices. La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Del Mar, Coronado, and on and on.

Do you want to be right on the beach - or more in a full service resort/hotel place (Torrey Pines Lodge being very nice - as is Auberge in Del Mar)- whatever?

For a bit basic - but right over the water - check out the Inn at Sunset Cliffs. Two star but literally - you can stand on the deck and look down at the waves crashing against the rocks below ye, and you can BBQ on the upper deck if you like or walk over to Newport Ave in Ocean Beach for many dining choices.

www.innatsunsetcliffs.com, or close.

lodge at torry pines - close to torry pines state park for hiking, close to la jolla and a beach between the state park and del mar. but, you have to drive everywhere. if you don't need to stay in san diego, look at hotels in del mar or laguna beach is lovely and should be pretty peaceful in october.
