I promise this is travel related since we'll need to travel to the places we might consider relocating to! Anyway, I was wondering if you could give me your opinions of places to live in the Pacific NW, specifically Oregon, Washington, or maybe Idaho. We are looking for nice summer weather that is not too hot, plenty of outdoor activities, beautiful scenery, open minded people, decent housing in the $400K range, and a place that does not get too much snow. Anyone know of a great place that fits that bill? We're going to start taking trips soon and will continue doing so until we find the right place. We're also planning on visiting during different times of the year. Thank you very much!

You describe pretty much every place within 100-125 miles of the coast in Washington and Oregon. Open-minded people are everywhere, but they try to keep a low profile in many communities.

Way too many personal factors here. Jobs? Kids? Low income taxes but high sales taxes? Medical facilities? Airport proximities? Allergies? Geez..

Thanks Scarlett, I'm just beginning my research now and only asked for opinions. Many times people on this forum will mention favorite places and I often find this helpful during a search.

As others say, west of the Cascades in Washington and Oregon and east of the Coastal range. Otherwise, you have snow in winter or lots of fog in summer.

The big hitters are Seattle and Portland. Seattle is very expensive. Portland is fairly expensive. Salem is more reasonable. There are lots of other cities, Bellingham, Olympia, Tacoma, Eugene, Corvallis.

We're actually a friendly bunch. Just give us more information on what you are looking for.
