Portland Oregon for an afternoon and morning
I am going to Portland Saturday and will have the afternoon and Sunday morning to early afternoon available. I am not very mobile, will have a car. What can some of you suggest please. I continue on to Eugene for my granddaughter's graduation.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

The TriMet red line is right outside baggage claim at PDX if you didn't want to rent the car at the airport. Renting a car downtown is usually cheaper than at the airport. On Sunday morning at 11:10 there is the Amtrak Cascades #503 that will get you to Eugene about 2PM.

Hi Gretchen
If I had the stretch of time you suggest with a car, I’d high tail it to the Columbia River Gorge, try to see a waterfall or the Portland Women’s Forum Lookout. I like the river cruise suggestion for Portland proper.
Enjoy and let us know what you did!
Best wishes, Daniel

Gretchen,
You’re most welcome. I wouldn’t have been any help with the time entry because when I went last, that policy had not been introduced yet; it was still a free-for-all.
All the best—Daniel

Hi, we just were there 2 weeks ago, it was lovely.
I second heading over to Multnomah falls. You need a timed entry pass for exit 31. The first exit for the falls is 28, but that is first come first serve, and we were advised that is fills up by 9:00. It is a smaller lot but it is right next to the Lodge and the waterfall access, I would recommend this one, but go early, if you have limited mobility. We got the pass for 9:00, and used exit 31 which has a much larger parking lot, but you have to walk a little further (about a block) and use the underpass for access.
We continued to Multnomah falls Lodge, where we had a breakfast reservation for 9:15. It is a beautiful spot surrounded with glass and it has a view of the falls. We then proceeded to the Falls, and climbed to the top, but that is not necessary to enjoy it. When we got back to the parking lot, there was a line of people attempting to get in without the pass, who were being turned away, and didn't have good enough reception to attempt to get one online.
We then headed to the Mt. Hood area to get some closer views and had lunch in Hood River. On our way back, we stopped at the Women's Forum Lookout and continued on about 3 minutes, to Vista House at Crown Point, which was spectacular! Views of the river in both directions as far as the eye can see. Enjoy!

There is a Travel Portland website with links to what is happening in Portland.
you could visit the Edgefield Hotel. Very unique place. It used to be a “poor farm”, then a nursing home. The grounds are beautiful. There are a couple of restaurants. It is a winery and a brewpub. When it reopened, they hired a group of artists and commissioned them to paint memories of the old days. I think every wall and door has something painted on it. I think there are tours but you can just wander through on your own.
