Portland (Maine) Dinner Suggestions?
We'll be in Portland, Maine next weekend -- looking for dinner suggestions for Friday & Saturday nights. We've never been there, but have recommendations for Perfetto's, Walter's, Katadin, Street & Co. Any comments on these, or suggestions on how to find menus online? Many thanks!

See www.phantomgourmet.com - just did reviews on restaurants in Portland, Maine. We've found the Phantom's reviews to be "right on" every time.

Cotton Street Cantina has a ravioli dish I love.
Fore Street Grill great food.
Street & Co. great
Rachel's also great food.
Best hamburger in town is at Rosie's in Old Port.
Portland has many fine restaurant with many innovated chefs.
Enjoy you Old Port.

Katadin has a new owner, and we don't think it's as good as it used to be. Fore Street is owned by the same people as Street & Co., and it too is very good. Perfetto's has been a longtime favorite of ours, and we're glad it's now in Kennebunkport too.

Another vote for Street&Co. Best seafood! It's the Sea Scallops in Pernod Cream Sauce; it's heaven!
Also Seascapes Restaurant @Porpoise Cove, I think, out near Kennybunkport.
Oh, don't miss a nature walk at Rachel Carson's Nature Preserve, south of Portland, near Orchard Beach

Anthony's recommendations are great, except that Seascapes is in Cape Porpoise, park of the Kennebunks, and the Rachel Carlson national park is on Rt. 9A on the way into Kennebunk Lower Village and Kennebunkport; it's not near Orchard Beach to my way of thinking.

Thanks for the corrections, Jim. I haven't been back in a couple of yrs., and didn't haul out my research info before responding. Hopefully, I will get back to Maine this yr! Have yet to see those Scallops in Pernod Sauce anywhere else in the country.
