Portland, Hotel Regency and Eastland
I have a doubt, the rates at the Eastland
Hotel in Portland is only $69.00 a night...
I find it for todays prices very low...
and the Regency Hotel, in Portland is
$159.00 and its more or less the same area
do any of you know by any chance why the
Difference in Prices???
Thank you

Nevermind Marta, I found them both. The Regency is in the center of the Old Port, and the Eastland is off Congress Street (Portland's main drag) across the street from the Children's Museum and the old Stage Theatre (it had gone out of business when I moved out of Portland, but something might be in there now). The Regency is definitely are more elegant hotel, but it is more modern. The Eastland, years ago used to be either owned by Ramada or Radisson. I remember staying there for a weekend in the early 80s.
Yes, you can walk from the Eastland to everything, but I really don't care for that specific section of town late in the evening.
Stick with your first choice, the Regency is perfect.
