Port Angeles - Victoria Ferry Wait time

We're planning on taking the vehicle ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria on a weekday in mid October.

I've done this ferry before during peak season where it's necessary to get your car in the queue three or so hours before the sailing. I'm wondering if it's necessary to get there that early in October.

The Coho ferry that travels that route accepts a limited number of reservations. Check out their website. Even if you don't have a reservation, I don't expect you'd have to get there three hours early in October, but call the Coho and ask for their thoughts on this. The second Monday in October is Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day, so if it is that weekend, there may be more of a wait.

Port Angeles is a cute town right at the ferry, so if you go early, you can park your car and visit the town.

Definitely get reservations. In October the shedule changes and there are only 2 sailings each day. You would hate to miss one and have to wait for 5 or 6 hours til the next one. With a reservation, you will still need to be there 1 hour before sailing. But you can easy go get coffee or whatever in that time.

I didn't realize the Coho took reservations. We just booked.

Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, the reservations is fairly new. We went almost 2 years ago and had reservations, but I don't know when that started.
