Poipu beach
My husband and I are spending 7 days in Kauai next August on our 25 anniversary. We intend to stay at Sheraton. How is the pool( cannot be seen in the internet site)? Is it true that Kiuhana(?) Plantation's guests can use the Sheraton's pool? Is the beach in front the hotel good for swimming and snorkeling? Thank you again for all the people who have been answering my questions!!!

The Sheraton is located on a nice cresent sandy bottom beach, great for swimming and wave surfing, but not too intimidating. The pool at the Sheraton is average, nothing really huge or ostentatious. I am not sure what the arrangements are for the Kiahuna folks to use the pool. If you stay at the Sheraton, be sure to ask for the ocean front rooms as the garden rooms are out back across the street. The ocean front rooms are worth the extra cost because they are really close to the water. Also check out the Plantation Restaurant at Kiahuna, a short 5 minute walk. Good food and old plantation atmosphere. Have fun.

I just stayed at a condo on the other side of the Sheraton in Kauai. The beach at the Sheraton and Poipu Beach next door, are great. Early October the water was pretty rough, though. I believe the Kiahuna plantation guests only have access to the Sheraton's, garden pool, across the street. The beachfront pool is not huge, but okay, and the beach setting is very pretty. Oh, and we did eat at the Plantation Restaurant at Kiahuna, it was great and very pretty setting.

Hi Val I have never stayed at the Sheraton but have heard good things only. I will say if you can get the right price through triple AAA or any other promo, I really enjoyed a visit to the Hyatt Regency.
August is the dry season though you know, North Shore is beautiful that time of year. Not trying to discourage any ideas just wanted to tell you what has made me happy for the past 3 summers. I like condos too they are usually a better value and you just get more space. Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

Poipu beach is fine for swimming. We wished we had stayed at the north end, at the Princeville, because it did not seem to have a lot of kids running around like everywhere else. It is beautiful up in the north, I agree with the other poster about that. You may want to see what you can get up there.
