Please help - Texas beach from San Antonio, Safe for lone female

Hi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My daughter will be in San Antonio on business and would like to drive to the coast to spend a few days at the beach. Any suggestions for a place that is not too far from San Antonio but has a nice beach and would be safe for a female traveling solo? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If it were me I'd go south on I-37 to Corpus Christi if she likes citires or for a smaller beachtown, just before CC, I'd go just north of there of Port Aransas.

Personally I'd prefer Port A.

Mustang Island on Padre Island (close to Port Aransas) would be my choice. We love it there and a girlfriend of mine likes to camp there. For more information log on to...

Keep in mind that although Corpus Christi/Port Aransas are the closest beach areas to San Antonio, it's still a 3 hour drive. I suggest you make sure she has a cell phone and have her check in with you upon arrival.

Re: drive time, it really depends on where in San Antonio you're staying. We live on the far NW side of town and can make it to Corpus in under 2.5 hours.

Thanks so much for all your helpful replies. Port Aransas looks like a good possibility. Any particular hotel suggestions there. Pardon my ignorance regarding the Texas coast, but will it be pretty busy there in May? Is there a nice beach there that will be pretty well-traveled at this time of the year? Again, any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
