I would suggest the MGM or Luxor. Luxor had 49$ per nite rates last time I was there. MGM is very nice, and has a great combination of restaurants..Emeril's, Olio, Ricardo's....all great. MGM is nice because you will never have to leave if you don't want to. Aladdin is brand new, but I had several complaints about my most recent stay there. The restaurant "commanders palace" is at aladdin and is an absolute must.

I too would do the MGM - lots of places to eat, big casino, friendly staff, nice rooms, good pool area.

I like MGM but is very big. People that I know that have stayed at New York found the rooms to be good but the noise level can be bad if your room is too close to the roller coaster that winds around the outside of the hotel buildings. One other down side to MGM is the long long walk to pool area which might not be of concern in Dec. You have to walk through all of the shops and cafes area to get to the pool which seems odd to me. But overall MGM is quite nice.

I'd stay at Ballys. Ballys may not be the fanciest hotel, but it is very nice, has a good casino and its standard rooms are bigger than most of the other hotels. If you've been to Vegas before than you know Ballys (out of the one's on your list) is also in the most convenient location at of all of them. It is right across the street from the Bellagio where you can catch the monorail to some of the other casinos. Cesars is also right across the street. Ballys also connects to Paris and you can catch the Bally's monorail to the MGM (check out the Lions!). I've stayed at the Monte Carlo also. Its nice and I'd go back, but I like the convenience of Ballys. I found the Luxor to be uninviting and its too far down the strip. If you're only spending two days you want convience and quick access to most areas. Have Fun! I'm jealous.

The best value would be determined by what price you have for each of these hotels. The Aladdin in the only luxury hotel you have listed so is the most upscale. I had a great stay there and it has been pricing very affordably lately. The Monte Carlo and the Treasure Island are the most deluxe of the rest and the Treasure Island is most likely to have the better price of the two. The MGM and New York New York are great for families but a lot of people are bothered by that as well; don't stay if you don't like seeing a lot of kids! They both usually have good deals as well but keep in mind that MGM is huge and New York has smallish rooms. The rest are not notable in this group unless they have really killer deals!

HOLD IT! Did someone say "check out the lions"? Do you mean actual live lions? Because if that hotel has lions, they're jerks, and I'll never go there.

The hotels are all pretty much aroung 50 bucks a nite. The most expensive is Ny with it being 55 bucks a nite. The cheapest is Harrahs which can be had for 25 bucks a nite. All the rest are either 49 or 45 a nite. Thank you for all the great info so far!!

Jesse,

I have not had any problems with the Luxor or the Monte Carlo both are very good hotels. The Monte Carlo has a lazy river and a small wave pool ( do not know if they are open in december)
I would check out the hotel websites for special offers. As you are staying Mon/Tue prices should be reasonable.
I would probably avoid the Flamingo unless the deals were very good as some of the rooms need redecoration and are smaller and less well equiped than say Luxor/MC.
I would also probably avoid the LV Hilton unless you have a car as it is around 10 minute walk to the strip ( Riviera/Starbust end) and away from the main strip action.

Have a great time!!

Terri,

MGM has a lion habitat(free) where the lions are the main attraction ( I belive there are several of them and are rotated between the MGM exhibit and a larger area)
The Mirage has the Secret Garden with white tigers ,elephants etc and has the dolphin exhibit ($10)

Of the hotel's listed, i'd recommend Harrah's if it is indeed $20/nite cheaper than the others. The location is great, and spend the few dollars you're saving on an extra-nice dinner.

Places i'd avoid on the list...

MGM (poor service, too large, kids everywhere)
LV Hilton (off the strip)
Luxor (poor location).

Other than those 3, i don't think you can go too wrong with your picks.

I have heard that the rooms in the Luxor are not the greatest, due to the shape..since the elevators go sideways or something on that order...and it is dark and gloomy in that casino! Alladdin is huge-the slots are awful-Harrahs is so-so, MGM is huge and I have heard nothing terrible about it, Treasure Island is big with conventions, the others are old stand byes, kind of tired, I guess the best one that I would pick would be Treasure Island, it is next door to the Mirage, and across the street from the Venetian..and it is on the strip-which some of the others are not.JMHO KC

jesse,
at those prices, Monte Carlo is your best value. It really is nice and well located (connected by tram to the Bellagio too!). I'm not sure if this will work but here's a photo tour I found;

I'm a frequent traveler to LV and will be there the wk after you are. At the rates you listed I would go with either the Aladdin, which is the newest, and has nice bathrooms, entrance tohotel part without entering acsino, but a confusing casino layout; or the Monte Carlo. Obviously the value property would be Harrahs (we are staying there for part of our trip for 3 nts comped) which has a good location. Rooms are comparatively small but decorated just fine. Smaller and more cramped casino than either MC or Aladdin.
If price not an issue, and you will not necessarly gamble in the casino you stay at only, I would lean towards the Aladdin. If you like to play where you stay, then MC over Alladin.

Since Mandalay Bay and the Veneitian are not on here, the next best choice from my point of view is the TI.
Either way, for 2 nights it doesn't matter too much, just have a great time.

You've really got some mixed messages going here, Jesse.
Whoever these people are recommending MGM, I strongly disagree. MGM has many negative features I won't bother to list.
Best choices are Treasure Island and Aladdin in the list you've provided.
Monte Carlo and the non-pyramid rooms at Luxor are next.
Harrah's is really just a casino with a Motel 6 (a really really big Motel 6)added on.
And whoever mentioned something about the POOL and LAZY RIVER at Monte Carlo...ohmygosh! In December?!! Gotta be kidding. It'll be closed, of course, but even if it weren't, it'll be 25-35 degrees atr night!!
Regardless, for the prices you're looking at, you can't really go wrong.

Don't stay at NYNY. The hotel rooms are surrounded by the roller-coaster which can get annoying. I hear the Monte Carlo has a nice pool. I know the Luxor does, but the rooms suck. The Hilton has the least-convenient location. And I hear the Aladdin is super-cheap and tacky.

Sorry, don't know about the rest, but have a blast.
