Dollarcar.com has some low rates at Vegas airport. Use promo code LVCVA. Car might sit for 2 days but you'll still save $ over strip rental, plus save cab fare etc.

P.S. Hertz currently cheapest for one-way CA rental. Convertible looks like $200 more than mid size hardtop though. Discount for AAA.

Wow Clarkgriswold - your good. I have car reservations already but ... after extensive searching I ended up w/ a Hertz convertible for the CA portion and a Dollar rental from airport in Vegas. It was barely a cab ride more than the lowest (also dollar) pick up at Bellagio 2 days later.
