asdaven, just curious but what would make you not want to go to an entire continent? Most of the countries in Europe are so different from each other. I could see not wanting to visit one or even a few countries but "most of Europe"? That one leaves me a little baffled.

The Mekong Delta in Vietnam

Not too many other places I won't visit, especially if I haven't been there.

However, I haven't been to Las Vegas and it's about on the bottom of my "places to visit" list. I'd even rather return to India, which I spent a rather grueling 2 weeks touring 2 years ago and don't have a great desire to return.

I hope I never end up in Branson, MO.

Don't really want to go back to Seattle or Cancun or Daytona Beach.

Other than that, I want to see about every place once.

I loved Ronda, Spain and Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. I too try not to return to a place too many times now-too many new places to see. I will make an exception and go back to Vietnam and Cambodia, though. Loved it there.

Apparently I'm the only one who has been to New Orleans (twice for conventions) and wishes she never had to go back (however, I will once again have to attend a convention there in January).

Texas is a very big diverse place to want to avoid forever. I don't get it. Someone hate all parts of and everything associated with Texas?

LOL LoveItaly. Reno IS getting better BUT it's still got about five years to go I'd say.

Las Vegas for me. I have a friend who lives there and was down there about three weeks ago. It was fun with a friend. We didn't DO the strip but had lunch at the Venetian and then walked over to Wynn..her SIL works in the show store there, right across from the Rolex shop. They average about four Rolexes a day..LOL.

The strip is just horrible, the main reason being that they are always tearing down, building up, or expanding. By the way, a HUGE Barney's is opening up right next door to Wynn. It's supposed to be open around the first of the year as I understand. Checked out the Fashion Mall, I hadn't seen it since it was re-done. Dark and dingy inside and guess what? It's just another mall.

After the afternoon on the strip, we just hung out in Hendersen, where my friend lives. I even went to mass with her on Sunday morning and I wasn't hit by that old lightening bolt.

I know there is more to Nashville than country music, but I also know it would take some real effort to visit the country music capital and avoid country music completely - and if I were going someplace by choice, I wouldn't want to have to work that hard to avoid the major thing that it is known for. That would just be silly. I have a severe dislike of country music and if it is played in a restaurant or store, I will walk out because it is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me and I cannot enjoy myself if it is playing.

J_Correa, I share in your distaste for Nashville. I understand that there is more to the city then country music, but as someone who hates country music its hard to ignore it in Nashville because it seems to be everywhere.

Trying to avoid country music in Nashville would be like trying to avoid Mickey Mouse at Disneyland!

I love most places - LOVE Vegas and Disney World. I do alot of international travel for business, and I'm been to some scary places, but the only place I really don't want to go is Nigeria - scares me!!!!! I would much rather go back to Liberia, and they don't even have an infrastructure of any kind in their country any more (due to the civil war)...... The people were wonderful there, however......

Germany, awful food and weather and rude people. Almost as bad as Ohio.

Brutforce Nov 7th, 2007 09:25 AM

I've never encountered a rude person in Germany (?), nor bad weather. Go Buckeyes !!! I have encountered some in Cali though.

Dayle Nov 7th, 2007 11:18 AM

Las Vegas, been there, can't stand it.

mireaux7 Nov 7th, 2007 11:21 AM

suze, since i have it under "united states", i was referring just to places in the u.s.

but if you feel inclined to make a topic for the world, go for it.

mireaux7 Nov 7th, 2007 11:25 AM

yeah, i had initially indicated united states, but after reading a lot of the posts from other fodorites,.i calling it out as a "free for all" (cues: ted nugent)

The Midwest puts me in a coma.

I like going back to places I love
(Italy,Mexico) Would love to go back to Paris.

Im a bit leary of places that are really filthy and have children living on the street. I would probably be arrested for yelling for someone to help.

Vegas is ok if you just enjoy it for the insanity that it is.

Never been to any Disney's. Dont ever want to.

panecott Nov 7th, 2007 01:32 PM

Los Angeles, CA

Florence, CO

Can't think of any place I wouldn't try just once.

toedtoes Nov 7th, 2007 05:08 PM

I think every place can be enjoyable if you are going for the right reasons.

If you go to Disney World for a relaxing vacation, you're going to be disappointed.

If you go to Napa for a week of nightlife, you're going to be disappointed.

For me, I really have no desire to go anywhere that caters to gambling, little kids or laying around a pool or a beach all day.

However, as my life changes, I may change my mind and want to do those things.

Have been to Las Vegas and Disney World and will avoid repeat trips if at all possible
