Places to stay in Yosemite?

I'm looking for some reasonable places to stay within Yosemite. Any ideas for two couples to share over the weekend? We'll be coming from the west side of the park (from SF)

i would suggest the motel-ish option within the valley--i think it's called yosemite lodge. Not too expensive and convenient, with a cafeteria next door.

We stayed at Yosemite View Lodge in May 2001 and loved it. We had a view of the Merced River from our balcony. We paid about $150/night for that time of year. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced as well. Would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from camping in Yosemite.
The National Park camping grounds facilities are disgraceful. No showers, filthy toilets, only cold water through spring mounted taps, so even cleaning your teeth and washing is well nigh impossible. I arrived at the following slogan for the park - "Yosemite - Nature's wonderland.........and where in the space of less than three yards campers can share a wash, a piss and a pooh!".

Camp Curry, in the valley, has permanent tent sites and has a special on at the moment.

Ahawahnee Lodge is great, but about $250 a night.

John, I'm confused. You were camping. Did you expect hot showers and hairdryers? I'm disturbed by filthy toilets, but the rest I would expect. There are lots of motel type places you could have chosen instead.

I'll second the Yosemite Lodge suggestions. Stayed there last year and thought they were great. Sort of a 50's style motel decor, however, the place seems to have been renovated recently. We found the rooms to be well outfitted with new carpet, relatively new linens, and ample room to move around. Plus, the surroundings are beautiful. Woke up in the morning after getting in about midnight, and discovered that we had a beautiful view of Yosemite Falls just a few steps from our door. The prices are good, especially for winter/spring. Have a good time.

We stayed at Yosemite Lodge this September. It is a motel style room, but very clean & actually rather large.
The price was high for a motel room, $121/one night, $147 for the 2nd night, but you can't beat the location & the convenience. Loved having all those food options next door & the information center..oh & the view!

We also stayed at Yosemite View Lodge which is right outside the west entrance. THere was a small kitchenette area which was nice as we could have breakfast. THere is a general store on the premises. When we were there the restaurant was closed but it is probably open now. Down the road I believe is Cedar Lodge where there is also a restaurant. If I can recall the town is called El Portal.

Call THE REDWOODS Guest Cottages in Wawona at south end of the park. They rent cottages of all sizes. Wood burning fireplaces and nice location. We have used them two times for different weekends. Phone is 209-375-6666. Fax is 209-375-6400. It beats a motel.
