Ken, Be sure to visit the small town of Weston, I believe its near Rt. 100. Its a beautiful area and a stop at the Weston Country Store is always a treat. Nice restaurant for lunch right next store. Check your map and any drive around this area a delight. Enjoy!! Sue

A nice "loop" is to start in Brattleboro take rt 9 to Bennington (side trip to Willilamstown MA great museum on campus of Williams college). North from Bennington to Manchester Depot on rt 7. East on rt 30 back to Brattleboro. You go through West Townsend and Townsend. Very scenic. Several covered bridges along the way. A side trip up to Grafton is also neet. It will be crowded since this is peak foliage season.

I agree with the previous poster who said route 9 from Brattleboro to Bennington. Its really great scenery and there are some quaint places to stop along the way too. In Bennington, there are several historic homes you can tour and a little further north in Manchester is Hildene- Todd Lincoln's former home.

Brattleboro is a funky little city/town (a throwback to the 60s) with two great restaurants (maybe more): Peter Havens and T.C. Elliots. Also, there's a fabric store on Main Street called Immaculate Mountain which carries beautiful fabrics, laces, and antique buttons. Even if you're not a seamstress, this store is worth visiting
