Place to meet between Austin and Houston

We are going to a wedding in Houston (actually Katy) and want to get together with friends from Austin for the day. We dont want to drive 3 hours as its a long roundtrip and would prefer to spend the time with our friends. Any suggestions for a mid point rendevous? Some place with good eats and or sights?

The Little Creamery in Brenham? I'd give anything for a big scoop of Blue Bell Poteet Strawberry right now. It's closer to Katy than it is to Austin, depends on which side of town your friends are travelling from, I guess.

Must be Heaven in downtown Brenham...great meeting place ..coffee, sandwiches, ice cream...places to sit and talk. I live in Brenham and do it all the time.

La Grange used to have a good roadside barbecue (haven't been in 30 years).

The creamery in Brenham is a great idea but here's something else I enjoyed. There's a little town not far from Brenham called Chappell where they have the Monastery Miniature Horse Farm which run by nuns. The grounds are beautiful and the horses are so cute. As you turn off Hwy 290 to get to the farm there is a little restaurant called Bevers where you can get great home-style food.

The Shiner Bock Brewery in Shiner, TX? I think that would be a fun place to meet up.
