Well, I can agree that it is crappy for someone to intentionally give bad advice but there are so many of us on here that I am sure that the truth will prevail and any negative or false comments will be corrected.

There are 80 posts on here, of which a full 20 are by the same person using different names: Guarto/Lake/Robinsen and they are mostly taunting, sneering posts. How does this accord with the "civil" tone that Fodors wants to have on its threads?
This particular thread started out with smiles and fun: Marilyn posted "a good time was had by all"; cigalechanta and FainaAgain chimed in to congratulate Marilyn, calling the pictures "great"; Scarlett said it was "fun to put faces to the names";Kir Royale happily chatted about her Eiffel Tower.
Then the attacks came. Marilyn was called "a sick person". Then it's "poor Marilyn", Marilyn who has "really gone off the deep end", "Marilyn, you are making a fool of yourself", "conducting psychotic conversations with yourself", etc. etc. and all for posting some happy pictures of a get together!
Guarto/Lake/Robinsen, what we say reflect back on what we are. Look at your abusive language and how it reflects back on yourself. You must be a very miserable, lonely person so craving attention that you have to use these negative ways to gain negative attention.
You must really dislike yourself. Why don't you go to the next SF Fodorite get together and take Marilyn up on her invitation? Why don't you come out in the open and have a nice chat face to face and have some good laughs? Why don't you join in the FUN instead of hiding in the dark, taking pot shots at others?
And Fodors, since you are now allowing such abusive language to be used with Marilyn and other innocent posters, are we to assume that the gloves are off and we can engage in an all out warfare of slanderous language?

It seemed so easy to post a comment on the worldisround site. Thank you for the story and the photo. I hope to see some or all of you in Yountville the day after Thanksgiving..unless, of course, we are meeting in beautiful San Jose.

I finally had a chance to look at the pictures - looks like you had fun, although as part of the Borg I would think I ought to have known that already! The pics are great - nice to be able to put faces to names.

<Just got into work here in NYC>
I am having an "Ignore SJBoy day"
Won't you all join me in this crusade? LOL I want to see how many times he can talk to himself when he is being very ignored by all of us!
Oh, and by the way, does anyone remember that old analogy from school days when someone told you that the one who puts others down is because they are deep down insecure and have to do it to feel better about themselves?

Meesthare, try my credo for the day, ignore, ignore ignore....the fact that he had to change names again is just indicative of who is the one with all the screen name changes. I find it rather amusing that he chose one that actually suits him this time....

Marilyn,
Thank you for posting the photos. Even though I couldn't make the event, I'm glad to know a good time was had by all (or you if this is the case).
When Fodors first introduced registration in January, I registered as ncgrrl. A couple of days later I registered under a 'real' name (not my name, but something closer to the real one). But I had trouble keeping up with two names with all the logouts and logins.
So I congratulate you for keeping all your personalities in check, keeping the writing styles different and heck, making us believe obxgirl lives on the east coast, Scarlett and her lovely pup are in NYC looking for a new home with her yankee husband, and a guy named Jason. The talent you have for keeping up the charade must be recognized and you deserve an award for the effort. The ability to stop time so the time stamp on the postings is beyond my nerd-girl abilities. Please let us know how you do it.
Ncgrrl, who hasn't been accused of being part of the collective -- yet.

Thanks, Marilyn, for letting us see everyone. Looks like a great group of Fodorites. It's fun to see if the people look anything like you imagined. We get such strong visual images of each person. Sometimes they are almost exactly as pictured, sometimes completely opposite, and other times look like someone you know - as is the case with KirRoyale. KirRoyale looks just like one of my close friends!

Wow, I go to sleep for 8 hours and presto, my dreams come true. You guys are all sooo funny!
jason, thank you for coming to my defense so eloquently. You are my knight in shining armor!
Pam, LOL! We may be able to join you as we usually have Thanksgiving at SIL's house in Yountville.
Meesthare, wherever you live, you should come to the next GTG.
ncgrrl, you would think I'd be on the Hollywood payroll with this talent for writing dialog for so many different characters, wouldn't you? Changing the time code will have to remain my little secret, unless you want to send $29.95 for my tell-all instruction booklet.
Koshka, too funny! I believe NYCFS is in Italy right now, and you know how nature abhors a vacuum. Thanks for your kind comments.
And to all who have been reading this thread, I apologize for being a naughty girl. I know I egged him on, but I just couldn't resist at some point. When he comes back (and he will) I promise to adhere to missjanna's code and simply ignore him.
I'm glad the thread is back on track. All the warm comments from everyone make me so glad we did the GTG, and determined to do another in the spring. I have about 40 interested people, so let me know if you want to be added to the list. Send me an email (see above) with your fodors name, real name, and email address.
