Photos Developed at Costco--anyone else experience this?

After taking them to Costco's 1 hour developing, I picked my vacation photos up. Besides the prints I also paid for a CD where you can view them on a computer and supposedly edit them (cropping, red eyes etc.)The editing part doesn't seem to work and all I see is photos of 2 Flamingo Birds!! (Although the view photo option shows my photos). I have no idea what these Flamingo Birds are doing in my photos. Has anyone else ever had such an experience receiving a photo CD from Costco?? I'm stumped! Kiki

I'm missing something here....your pictures came back with photos of Flamingos that you didn't take or what?? Need some clarification. I get my photos developed at Costco also but have never ordered the CD. ???? Gina

Flaming birds, as in Duck Flambe?

Why don't you ask your question at Costco, where they should be able to get things working properly for you?

I never take my photos to Costco because one of my travel companion's experience.

When she went to pick up her photos from her three week trip to Japan, she could not find them.

Costco never figured out what happened to them, suggesting that perhaps another customer had picked them up in error.

The photos were never found and she lost all her pictures from her first trip to Japan and overseas.

Just a tip,

FOr vacation photos, take half the rolls in one day and half the next.
The liklihood of losing them all is slim.

To be real safe, number your rolls as you complete them. Take odd numbers in one day and even the next. This also helps to identify where you took the pic because the rolls will be in sequence.

Costco's 1 hour service is so inexpensive and the film never leaves the building.

Perhaps your Costco is different. At mine developed pictures are left for people to pick their own envelope(s) out.

Although, the odds maybe slim, picking out your own envelope is more prone to someone accidentally or otherwise picking up the wrong prints.

If you have spent a lot of money on vacation and your pictures are irreplaceable, does it really pay to have your valuable pics developed and printed at such a large discount.
operation?

For everyday local/family pics it might not be a big deal if your pics are lost.

At all of the Costco's in my area, they have two types of photo processing - an in house 1 hour service which is what I use and a 2 day (I think) service which is contracted to an outside company and you have to look for your developed photos yourself. I've never had problems with the 1 hour service.

I'd go with the one hour service at costco. Your pics are kept behind the counter until you pick them up and the rolls of film never leave the building for processing. Never had a problem and the price can't be beat!

I can beat that....along time ago I took my film in to be developed--and back came some photos of somebody's tombstone! Yikes!

I've been going to Wolf Photo but my husband thought that Costco's prices were much better and he took a roll of family film into Costco. Several of the photos didn't come out well and he had them redone. While talking to the girl behind the counter, she told him that Costco's equipment is not as good as Wolf's and that SHE takes her vacation photos to Wolf to make sure they are processed well. I've had drug stores do a poor processing job on vacaiton photos and I was heartbroken. Now, we've decided to pay more and take all of our film to Wolf (or somewhere with state of the art processing equipment).

Hi, guess I didn't make my posting very clear. Sorry about that! The actual photos from the 1 hour were perfect. They were developed and never left the store (customers can't go behind the counter to help themselves).
The problem I had is with the CD that I ordered with the photos. When you view the photos with the CD, you can see all my photos; but when you select the "edit your photo" option....this is when there is only a photo of 2 Flamingo Birds...none of the photos that I took. It's really crazy and sounds like something I need to take up with Costco. Apparently, no one else seems to have had this problem so I'll address the problem directly with Costco. Thanks! Fran

My friend and I both took photos at a recent trip to Yellowstone. I took mine to Wolf, while he took his to Costco. I can't believe that I paid 2.5 times as much and they came out much worse than his (my color was way off). We both used the same type of film and have almost identical cameras, so it was in the development. I'm just so glad that he ordered doubles that I could use for my album.
