Phoenix and GC in August

Hello,

Has anyone been to the Phoenix and GC at the end of August? What is the weather like? Is it possible to sightsee?

Thanks in advance.

Yes to both.

GC is comfortable. Phx has already had some 100 degree days. When we were there, it was 115. You can sightsee, but bring along plenty of water & duck into a/c whenever possible.

The Grand Canyon in early August was very comfortable for us a couple of years ago.

Phoenix will be HOT and could have some rain because it is their "wet monsoon" season.

However, the rain is likely to occur at night while you are asleep. The bigger challenge will be the heat. I live here and it can be quite brutal. Look for covered parking and a/c and enjoy yourself.

If we get a monsoon this year, at the south rim it usually hits 2-3pm for an hour or so. But seeing weather moving in over the canyon is fantastic! Just be aware and have a building or other coverage to run into if there's lightning. See http://grandcanyonprints.blogspot.co...ing-event.html

GCSR summer weather is generally 15-20 degrees cooler than phx. We'll occasionally have a week of around hi 80-lo 90's, but mostly mid 80's is our hottest.
