Philly - Checking Bags

I fly in and out of Phila all the time on US Air. I try not to check luggage if at all possible. Many flight attendents have told me that the Philly workers have a less than desired work ethic when it comes to baggage handling -- no sense of urgency.
If you are flying into Terminal F, you have a better chance of getting your luggage sooner vs. later. If you are flying into Terminals A-C, good luck. Back in March, I flew into Terminal A, got all the way down to baggage claim, then found out they moved our luggage to Terminal B/C -- the whole flight had to walk outside in freezing cold weather to get our luggage. We just flew in from Aruba -- HELLO WINTER!
Philly was always bad, the whole Christmas debacle was a complete mess. Then it went back to being bad again. I think they are worse about the time it takes vs. lost luggage.

We live an hour out of PHL and 1.5 from BWI and when given an option, we fly out of BWI. Everyone is correct when they say that PHL baggage handling is awful. SenecaGirl is correct when she says that work ethics at the airport leave alot to be desired.

The baggage thing hasn't improved. It still takes a long time to get your bags at baggage claim, but we've never had lost bags. On one flight they did "forget" to load an entire cart load of bags onto the plane. (The workers in Ft. Myers told us "that happens all the time in PHL") Those bags caught the next plane out.
We live outside PHL, so we have no choice - we check our bags. Taking at least 2 vacations a year, we've had only that one incident in the past 10. My husband is a frequent flier who can often avoid checking bags on his shorter business trips, but often he has to check at least one. He's only had one misdirected bag. His Boston bag went on to the Cape.
