Philly airport question

I'm flying into Philadelphia with a friend. Only problem is I'm flying United and she's flying Frontier. United uses terminal D and Frontier uses terminal A-East. I tried looking at the airport website to get this answer, but I'm stuck. How do I pick up my luggage and get over to terminal A-East? Looks like if I carried on (not an option) I don't have to leave the secure area to get over there. But once I leave the secure area to get my luggage I'm not sure where to go next. That's where I'm stuck. Can I walk to A-East? Is there a sidewalk? Is there a shuttle? Do I hop on the train? I have no idea.

You can certainly take the SEPTA train from D to A, then go back up to the entrance to security at A or to baggage claim and meet your friend. Technically SEPTA isn't free at the airport between terminals but I've never seen them collect tickets before leaving the Airport; you could hop on at D, hop off at A. I think you could probably walk from D to A outside on the sidewalk as well, perhaps a pain if you have bags.

You can walk between terminals after you exit baggage claim. The sidewalk is covered in front of each terminal and, although it won't be a short walk, it's probably your best option. The SEPTA trains run only thirty minues or so, thus walking will probably be your quickest option.

Great. Thanks for the info. Her plane arrives 30 minutes after mine... so I've got a bit of time to make the walk over.

The walking there is not bad at all although I cannot say how far those 2 terminals are apart from each other. One good thing is you will have plenty of time again they land, and get off the plane you more than likely will have a full hour even if it is 30 minutes later.
