Pennsylvania Road Trip

Our road trip from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco is only weeks away but we have found another week the end of September that we can get away so looks like it is time to plan another road trip!! WooHoo! We will have the last week of September and we are thinking of Pennsylvania. Any suggestions? We would like to see the Amish country and Hershey, I do have a sweet tooth We have never bee anyplace in Pennsylvania so would like to cover as much ground as possible and find areas that we like to return to. Where to start??

What's your starting point? I assume you have 1 week for the trip?

Fly into Philadelphia unless you can find a MUCH cheaper airfare at either Pittsburgh or an Atlantic Coast city.

If you fly into Philly, spend two days there, for which you will not need a car.

Rent a car after seeing Philly, then drive to Lancaster County. Although Amish do live here 90% of what's there not only has nothing to do with them but is completely oppossed to their lifestyle.

Continue on to Hershey and spend your time there. Then return to your airport and fly home.

If you let us know what, exactly, you enjoy doing during your vacations, we can help you locate where you'll find it.

You can get to Hershey in less than 2 hours from BWI.
Sorry that MDT does not have South-West.
BWI also has its own Amtrak station if you want to go to downtown Philadelphia, NYC or Washington.

I suggest considering Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA - it is an incredible place. They have a special light installation through September 29th.
