Well, I had a drink at the Peninsula in New York, but that probably doesn't help you much (it was a very good drink, however). Anyway, which Peninsula and what do you want to know that isn't found a their Web site?

Hi Mary,

Which Penninsula property are you referring to?

Mary, if you mean the Peninsula Hotel in New York, it is a spectacularly beautiful hotel at the corner of 5th Avenue and 54rd St. in New York. It is housed in a Beaux Arts building, and the clintele is moneyed and international. The rooms are large and luxuriously appointed, the public rooms are of a kind no longer built. I have stayed there exactly once and loved it. I thought it was the kind of place that would give PatC an introduction to New York, which is why I suggested it (the St. Regis across the street would have been an equally good choice, and L'espinasse is right in the hotel).

The Peninsula in Beverly Hills is my favorite LA area hotel. But which one are you referring to (NY or CA)?

We love the Peninsula in Beverly Hills and would highly recommend it. Everything has been perfect when we have been there.

If you mean the Peninsula in New York City, it is spectacularly beautiful (and was just redone just over a year ago). In the nice weather, drinks on the terrace bar overlooking Midtown at dusk could not be more magical.

Although I have never stayed in The Peninsula, I remember it as the Hotel my cousin who lived in New York took me to . We walked into the lobby and she said "This is the Hotel I would stay in if I did not live here." She is a "powerful New York attorney" type who has travelled the world. I remember the Hoel had a beautiful lobby. So nice, that my cousin went and asked for room information, while we both took a pack of matches. Even the matchbooks were nice. Just my two cents. This was in the early to mid 90's.

One other item to my last post. If you ever read Entertainment Mags where there is an interview with some California based celebrity in New York on a movie shoot/publicity event------the interview often will take place in their hotel room in The Peninsula.

One of the five most beautiful hotels in the city. Art Nouveau and Biedermeir furnishings, perfect location, great spa--sounds like an ad, but I write about these things and critique for a living and am being objective.
