Payless Car Rental in MCO

I rented from Payless last August. My husband and I flew in from Toledo, Ohio. The staff was very nice, but there seemed to be some extra taxes we did not know about, like some return fee, and they were very strict about returning the car full. It's impossible to return the car full when you have to drive from the gas station to the airport! So, we had to pay an extra $4.99 for that. Also, we asked for an intermediate car, but that was the smallest intermediate we ever rented.

It is sad that some people on this board like to express their opinions on matters they know nothing about. I can see them sitting at work, having nothing to do and feeling that they need to say SOMETHING. . . .
Bertha is certainly one of those people (no wonder she's from Toledo, Ohio). First, I have used Payless a number of times and they do not charge any "return fees." They charge the normal airport and Florida taxes that you have to pay regardless of what rental company you use. Second, Payless does not charge you $4.99 if your tank is not 100% full. It does have to be reasonably full, but the company does take into account that you do need to use gas to get to their location from the gas station (I think they "discount" the full tank by 20 miles for that specific purpose). Finally, their intermediate cars are no smaller than those of other companies.
My advise for Eugene is: go with the best value. On the average, Payless is no better and no worse than any other rental company. They're located only a mile away from the airport and they provide good shuttle service.

Wow Daniel, aren't you the nice one? Actually you'll probably think it must be an "Ohio thing" since we are also from Ohio and had a bad experience with Payless in Orlando. We landed one hour before our car was rented and had no luggage to wait on. It was almost an hour after we called for the shuttle before they picked us up. By the time we got to the rental office they told us we were 3 minutes late and they didn't have a car for us. It took some convincing that it wasn't our fault and that getting a car for us would be in their best interest. Hope you have better luck, Glen, but Payless won't get our business again.

I used to work at Payless in Orlando! Those were the shitiest 2 months of my life! Man, those guys down there are schemers! They will find a way to screw you in the end. Trust me, as a former employee, it is better to pay the extra $30 and rent from Alamo.
