paso robles wineries and hotel

Can you recommend wineries to visit and a hotel for one night in Paso Robles? We will be there in May.

For larger wineries, we visit Vina Robles and J. Lohr. We stay at budget places, such as Best Western Black Oak

Not sure of your price point.

Ha - last time we went to the Mid-State Fair (across the street), we stayed next door at the Motel 6 - now THAT is a budget property!!

vr22, the Best Western looks quite nice from the outside, as does the Paso Robles Inn.

We've stayed at both Best Western Black Oak and Paso Robles Inn and they are both very nice.

What was nice about Black Oak was Margie's Diner next door for breakfast

A vote for Tobin James winery. Great place to visit, fantastic reds, and good whites also.

My favorite wineries are Tobin James, Peachy Canyon and Tablas Creek.

I live here and this is what I would recommend:

La Bellasera or Hampton Inn just off Hwy 46 West. Then I would go to these wineries:

Niner
Halter Ranch
Tablas Creek
Calcareous

Dinner would be at Thomas Hill Organics, Roberts, or Artisan.

The wineries off the Hwy 46 East are fine but it is not as scenic there as it is on the west side, and Vineyard Drive is not to be missed.
