Palm Springs on Christmas Day?

Does anyone have ideas of what my husband, and my 2 daughters (10 & 14) and I can do on Christmas Day in Palm Springs. We will be arriving late on the 24th, I think most things will be closed? What to do???

I thought you might be able to catch the Living Desert Xmas Lights. The Living Desert outdoor animal park is transformed with Christmas light sculptures. However, in looking at their site http://abacus-es.com/livingdesert/events/wildlits.htm, I see they are not open on the 24th or 25th. If you are still in the desert on the 26th, this is a great event for all ages in the family! The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is open on Xmas Day. That's great fun especially if there is snow at the top. On their website they talk about special holiday meals also. Check out http://www.pstramway.com/. Good luck and enjoy!

The Tram is a great idea. However, if any of you are afraid of heights, you might want to think twice about this outing. If you golf, the public course is open that day (they used to offer free golf on Xmas, but I'm not sure if that offer is still in effect). There is always the option of hitting one of the Jewish delis (Nate's is popular) in Palm Springs for a pastrami sandwich and then go to the movies. And don't forget that the weather will be nice enough for you to all enjoy a day out by the pool. The minature golf place on Hwy 111 near Cathedral City might be open that day as well. Enjoy!

Lots of restaurants will be open Christmas Day. Like someone mentioned, the Living Desert (and its pretty cool Wild Lights display) is dark on the 24th and 25th. Here's a thought. Go to the Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert. I saw in the Desert Sun Weekend section that they are having carolers roaming around on the 25th. The hotel, with a great lobby anyway, does it up very nicely for the holidays. You could absorb the ambiance FREE or maybe for the price of a glass of wine or hot chocolate.

There are also lots of hikes you could take and anjoy the incredible weather.
