Palm Springs Groceries

hi
I'd be grateful for help on where to grocery shop in Palm Springs. We'll be driving down from Palo Alto Dec 23rd, staying in a house on N.Girasol Avenue for 10 days.
I shop at a combination of Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Safeway here.
Will need meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, wine, beer.
Thanks in advance.

There's also a very nice Vons (related to Safeway) at Bob Hope and Gerald Ford. Take the Vista Chino and the Freeway and exit Bob Hope.

A bit further at Country Club and Monterey is a Bristol Farms. (Take Country Club from Bob Hope).

The supermarkets closer to Palm Springs are not that great.

The Trader Joes is in Cathedral City, I think, on Hwy 111, which is a pain in the butt to travel on.

You will be in the North area, around Palm Canyon and Racquet Club. Von's is our Safeway, Ralphs are very good and Jensens is quality foods. I don't know where mlgb lives but the stores in Palm Springs are very good. There is a Ralph's at Ramon and Sunrise and a wonderful Jensen's at Sunrise and Tahquitz Canyon. They are two blocks apart. Trader Joe's is in Cathedral City just East of Palm Springs on Hwy 111. It may be a difficult drive from mlgb's side of the valley, but an easy drive from P.S. as it is only 2 miles past the city limits. There is no Whole Foods here but there is Clarks. It's a drive out to mlgb's territory at Diana Shore and Monterey (hwy 74): about 18 miles out of P.S.

Another grocery store chain in Socal is Stater Brothers.

In my opinion, it is cheaper and better than Vons (expensive) or Ralphs (not very nice).

Jensens is better than Whole Foods in my opinion (I used to live in the Bay Area).

I stayed with Elderhostel in Ramada on N Palm Canyon. There is a large Ralphs across the street (bring your Cala Foods card ) and next to it large pharmacy, maybe Longs?

Also visit the Thursday market in the downtown area with local produce and souvenirs.

Hi all and thanks for your help. We have returned from a wonderful week in Palm Springs and the advice helped a lot of looking around supermarkets.
We liked Jensens and used boith the Trader Joe's. Used Vons for basics.
Was surprised how little produce there was at the street market on Thursdays, but maybe it was because it was the week between Christmas and New Year.
The one item we had trouble finding was bagels (other than packaged generic ones).
Thanks again everyone!

Now I'm bookmarking this for myself. May be in Palm Springs in April, but staying in a different area I'll search if there is a food place close to... argghhh don't remember the exact address, is it 1177 N Palm Canyon?

It's a freebe (for me) timeshare.
