PABT to 46th

Is it too far to walk with a trolley bag from PABT to 46th between 5th and 6th?

Any suggestions for two girls aged 20 staying two days and a half in NYC?

Thanks.

A taxi will cost less than $5.

It's not that far. I'm making a rough guess of 15 minutes. The only problem is that is a very, very crowded area so it is a bit of a problem fighting the crowds as you pull your luggage. I'd go for taxi, but if you want to put the $5 to better use, by all means walk it. My suggestion would be to go east on 42nd Street straight out the terminal, staying on the south (right side) until you get to 5th Avenue, then head north (left) to 46th and then east (right) on 46th. That way at least you'll avoid the busier areas of Times Square.

Duh, can't believe I did that. What I meant was turn north (left) on 6th Avenue (not 5th).

Ooops, and still another thought. I guess maybe the signs say both, but the main street signs for 6th Avenue call it "Avenue of the Americas".

It's certainly walkable, a little more than a half-mile. And, Patrick has given you the easiest walking route to avoid congested sidewalks.

I've done a similar walk (Penn Station to Waldorf Astoria) and it was a big PIA with luggage.

I also endorse a taxi for this trip.

Sorry, GoTravel, but from Penn Station to the Waldorf is over a mile, about twice the distance MCOUTO is talking about.

Howard, ya think?

My point is walking up Broadway, Sixth, or Seventh Avenue with luggage is a PIA.

They opted for a taxi, but has anyone taken into consideration that finding an empty taxi by Times Square, depending on the time of day can be a PIA??

Also, if you haven't booked your hotel yet, be advised that a lot of hotels will not allow anyone to reserve a room if you're under 21.

But, missjanna, they are taking a taxi from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, not Times Square.

It's a block difference, and still hard to get a cab there on occasion!

They should have no problem getting a cab at the Port Authority. (PS: It's a very long block to Times Square!)
