THAT'S (WAS) IT! Waccamaw - I used to drag Mr. STW there. He'll be happy to hear it's gone, lol.

Myrtle Beach has changed alot since the Waccamaw days. Mr. STW can still wait for you as you shop at the outlet center - Ann Taylor, Kenneth Cole, Nautica, Tommy Hilfinger, Coach, Old Navy, etc. And of course, BassPro is across the street so to speak. That part of MB used to "country". I realized my new chain hotel is next to a Par3 course I played 16 years ago - and there was nothing much out there.

Murrells Inlet was a delight. I'm sure there are good restaurants in MB, but nothing I know of with the "atmosphere" of the Murrell's Inlet area. Great advice from GoT. I'm looking forward to trying all the recommendations of GoT and beachdweller, etc and sample as many good, scenic SC coastal restaurants as possible. Divine Fish is next!

Safe travels and have fun in BVI, GoT. The USVI are some of my favorites.

starrsville, Nothing stays the same for very long.

Pre-kids we used to stay at the Teakwood with our best friend. We had a blast -- drinking and playing Monopoly until all hours of the morning.

Post-kids we'd stay at the condos.

We would always drive. That part I did not enjoy.

Ooooh jeez, people--we deserve none of your compliments, but thank you! We're just normal people (well, if crazy is normal...) Anyway, thanks for all the advice and the swelled heads. We can't wait to leave and visit i2's love shack--oops I mean beach shack!

Atmosphere, beverages and good food make for a perfect evening so we may have to venture to Murrell's Inlet! You provided us with so many suggestions--how will we ever narrow them down. OWJ2's boss may get mad if we don't come back and cut him off from that paycheck I like spending

I'm so sad I'm not going to be able to meet up with you GoT. You are one of the funniest people on this bb and I was hoping to be able to hang out together. Hope the apocolypse is everything you imagine it to be!

Starrs-baby! We live close enough that we will have to hook up for lunch one day!

LoveItaly--What can I say? Thanks. (BTW, we never got to have the conf. call we were hoping to have--it's back to the drawing board on the adoption front )

Oh, and one more shout out to my pal cmcfong--Hi!! OWJ2's back is doing so, soo much better. He did some yardwork last weekend and felt good. I think he's pretty much back to normal.

(One more thing, Starrsville--the mere mention of Islamorada makes me weep. I spent more than a few weekends there or in other parts of the Keys back when I was still living in FL.)

Well, then, try out the Islamorada Fish Company in MB. They have a good coconut shrimp and a very interesting smoked fish spread at Zane Grey's bar/restaurant at the Bass in I. with the IFC next door. It's pretty much what I order when I go there. And, if you are drinking they mix a MEAN bloody mary! I was more in a Southern comfort food mood that night though

Really great restaurants on the north end:

Rossis
Thoroughbreds
Chesnut Hill (fabulous Sunday Brunch)
Biminis (although it's gotten a bit campy of late)

Ok...

I say Benny Rappa's over Rossi's

Thoroughbred's-definitely

Chestnut Hill-it's been a long time ago

Bimini's-know the name, but don't have a clue where it is.

OWJ....I have been accused of a lot of things, but never ever have I been accused of being sweet!

We'll make it that way before long. Life situations have been keeping us close to home lately.

My dear OWJ and OWJ2 ~

Mr. Tiff and I would like to extend a very hearty "have fun in the sun" to the both of you. You SO deserve it!

Oh what's that I hear... Soph says to "chase a stick on the beach for her and remember to take long naps!"

Love and "rrrrrufffff",
Tiff et al

Tiff,
Tell that cutiepie Sophie that we will throw sticks and take long naps in her honor! OWJ2 has dog-dar so there won't be a dog w/in 5mi. that won't come up to us and expect a little loving.

We are very excited to get some R&R and beach time and will forever be grateful to the i'2s for making this happen! To paraphrase the immortal Gotravel, "We. So. Need. This."
OWJ and OWJ2

I'2--
You are sweet! And fun...and funny...and have a heart of gold!

Wow,

I don't think I have much to add to the great suggestions above! You can't go wrong with any of them. Here's a few more NMB/Little River/Calabash places I didn't see anyone else mention.

Sea Merchants House in NMB (on Hwy 17) for the baked grouper parmesan.

In Little River, Parson's Table is a good special occasion restaurant. And on the waterfront there's a really cool place called the Cockney Cheddar, they have great fish n chips, as well as a creative shrimp appetizer.

A little further up the road in Calabash is Cafe Latte. A very welcome change when you just. can't. eat. another. bite. of. FRIED. anything.

Best nearby happy hours, if you're interested in that sort of thing:

1. Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery at Broadway at the Beach.

2. Biminis on Lake Arrowhead Rd (turn left just past Thoroughbreds)

3. Liberty Taproom (sister restaurant to #1 above)

4. Islamorada Fish Co., great apps, including sushi (6-8 pieces) between $3 & $4.

Oh, also, we used to love Duffy Street Fish Shack - it seemed a little pricy for a dive, but the seafood baskets were awesome. Haven't been in ages (they serve wine in a plastic cup, and there are some things that Mrs. Beach Dweller just won't tolerate).

Have a great time!

P.S. We'd love to meet you for a drink somewhere, you're here this Friday through Tuesday? Maybe Sunday evening?

Once again....(I just love butting into the business of others!)....Benny Rappa's is a hop skip from the Freeze luvin shack!

Sorry guys, I just couldn't resist!!

beachdweller & OWJ..there's a Duffy's on Main Street in OD, but I'm with you on thinking it was overpriced. I drank coke the night we went...didn't figure they had wine to even put in a plastic cup!! However, they used to have a good happy hour for shrimp and oysters.

Now y'all need to go over to the pavillion at OD and watch some of the old-timers shag in the early afternoon. It's about a mile one way by beach walking. Or, if you can stay up later (and tolerate the smoke), Fat Harold's should be hopping with lots of people dancing and drinking beer!!

Y'all just keep posting if you want me to keep on buttin in yer bizness!!
