Overwhelmed! Need Southeast Beach quiet but also restaurant/ice cream
We'll be 10-14 people. Coming from Atlanta. I don't know the beaches so well and there are soooooooo many options I am overwhelmed.
Some of our group will be flying in a few days prior from overseas so I considered Hilton Head area because it's closer.
I have been to Hilton Head at Spring Break 1x and had fun on the beach but it was a bit too busy and maybe we were just lucky with the weather??? We'd want to be able to swim etc.
As such looked at south walton beaches but from photos I can see that all the houses are so close to each other/stacked up. Worried that Spring Break will feel so crowded. I want some amenities but not a busy feeling.
I'd love to feel like I had some space on the beach, didn't hear all my neighbors, could have some sense of nature and beauty but also take a bike ride for ice cream, a little lunch, not have to cook every single thing.... In that way it seems like St. George might be a little too isolated (??) and further (??).
Give me some ideas???

We love the Beaches of 30A on the Florida Panhandle--the Seagrove, Seaside beaches. I have not been there in the spring but have visited in the summer and fall. There seem to be a lot of visitors from Atlanta in that area. There is a bike trail, lots of restaurants--it is really lovely. The houses may seem close but the beach is very nice. We have never stayed in any in Seaside/Watercolor homes that are across the street from the beach and really close.
We also enjoyed Kiawah Island. We were there in April. Bike trails, golfing, nice beach, restaurants.
You do have a lot of choices--and the weather will hopefully cooperate. I suppose your best bet for weather is actually Florida---we like Sanibel and are looking to visit Anna Maria Isand.
If you have to travel during Spring Break, I think you have to expect that there are going to be more people on the beaches--especially if you want to visit a place that has easy access to restaurants, bike trails etc.

Not knowing the dates of your Spring Break, I don't know if the weather would be warm enough for you to swim there at my suggestion--Jekyll Island. I have only been there in the summer months, but even then JI is never crowded. There's a good bike trail, nice beaches with few people, restaurants, historical sites and a couple places that you can bike to for your ice cream fix.

I assume this is in the spring? Litchfield would be uncrowded. The ocean might be too cold but there are pool. It is VERY uncrowded. Best seafood restaurants on the coast are nearby.
Myrtle Beach airport is a better connection than most probably.
Look at website for Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort.

We also love the beaches along 30A in Florida (and I would choose Florida at that time of the year to be able to swim in the ocean.)I've never stayed at Seaside or Seagrove but they have a good reputation with their soft white sand and clear waters. We stay further down at Cape San Blas but I would not recommend it for you, I think it's too isolated for what you want. However, I can recommend St George Island. We've never stayed there but go to a couple of restaurants on the island. Our favorite: http://www.eddyteachs.com/Home.html The island has a bicycle path and the beaches are very good.

we're major St George vavactioners--been going there since 87.Its totally laid back, no condos allowed and plenty of large places to rent--i always get a beachfront--its just soo much more convenient.Collins realty has teh largest selection, but Prudential is pretty good as well. The biggst homes are in the Planation, on the west end of the island. We rented a huge house last year, that had 7 bedrooms,a and slept 16,with a pool and an elevator,on the beach--really nice for a large group/family like me.There are only coulpe real good places on the island, but Appalchicola is only 10 minutes away and has several very nice food spots within walking disctance of each other, we like the Owl Cafe and that place on 98..walking,riding a bike, fishing from the beach, swimming, watching the sun come up and everpresnet dolphins make it an enjoyable spot

Also forgot to tell you, in downtown Appalachicola,on the same street that goes over the bridge, there is an old fashioned ice cream store with a bar and stools. Sorry, don't know the name, I just remembered you like ice cream.
