Overnight stay in N Central Idaho

We will be driving from Lake Couer D'Alene to Sun Valley in a couple weeks. Just curious what would be a good halfway point for an overnight. Was considering Salmon.

If you stay in Salmon at the 100 Acre Lodge, please report your experience here. That has been on my list, but we haven't done it yet.

The fall colors should be spectacular.

happytrails, thanks so much for the suggestion. I just booked a room at the 100 Acre Lodge. Will try to get back on here and report. We're not leaving for 2 weeks, hope it doesn't snow.

Happytrails, We did stay at the 100 Acre Lodge. Pleasant experience and a good night's sleep (which is often rare). Fall colors all along the Salmon River were gorgeous and when I get caught up will do a short report. BTW, the lodge is for sale.

Thanks for the update. I hope the lodge finds a buyer who loves the place.

Glad you enjoyed it--I'm sure it was spectacular up there this time of year!

I will say that several of the properties in Stanley (B&B, restaurant, etc.) have been for sale since 2011!

musicfan, we noticed a lot of for sale signs and wondered sadly, if it was because of fire danger.
