Outrigger Wailea/HOTWIRE.com
Has anyone stayed at the Outrigger Wailea? I'd love to hear input from someone. We are a family of 4 going for spring break in March. The Grand Wailea and Kea Lani are sold out.
Also has anyone used Hotwire.com for hotel rooms. They have an excellent rate (under $200) for a Wailea "3 1/2" star property. Their website says they have "relationships" with Aston and Outrigger, so I am assuming that this could be the Outrigger Wailea.

I haven't stayed there but am considering it. I checked the biddingfortravel board but didn't find any mention of Hotwire ratings for Maui. I think the consensus on that board is that the Hotwire ratings are higher than the Priceline would be (so that resort might really be a 3 star on pline). I'm not sure I think the Outrigger would be a 3.5 star on Hotwire, probably more. There are so many Outrigger and Aston properties down there I'd be worried about getting a lesser location. I checked my March dates and there was a 4.5 star available for $145. The Outrigger Wailea Entertainment rate is $188, if you really want to stay there I'd pony up a bit and book direct. I know the Maui Prince comes up on priceline and I don't like it, I'd be afraid of getting it. I think we will stay at the Palms and use the pool privledges at the Outrigger.
Good Luck, if you end up bidding please post your results.

Hi, My family of 6 stayed at the outrigger wailea during christmas last year. My children range from 14 to 4. We all loved it!! The people working there were so friendly, we received a wonderful lei greeting at check in. I had read post about not having a beach in the front of the hotel and I was concerned, but shouldnt had been because the ocean crashing on the rocks was breathtaking. Wailea and ulea beach were on each side. During the time we were there it was high surf--not good for snorkeling but as aI said earlier it was beautiful to watch the crashing waves upon the rocks. There main pool was very nice and they had a smaller kiddy pool with water slide. My older children didnt use the waterslide because it was geared for small children. Also the hotel is spread out so you didnt feel crouded. We did go to the humahuma rest at the grand wailea and thought that was very congested. We had gotten our rooms using the entertainment card which was oceanfront for $200.00--not bad for the holiday period. Have a great time we miss hawaii so much!!

Ditto for the Outrigger Wailea. We loved it. I'm a pretty picky traveler and wanted to stay at the FS or GW but our friends did not want to spend the money. Ended up loving the Outrigger Wailea and will stay only there in the future. I've hear there are huge variations in the quality of the Outrigger properties, however.
