there are wo outlet malls closeby. Gurnee Mills about 1 hour from downtown straight up interstate 94 in gurnee, Lake county, Illinois. this is the largest and has an "Off-Fifth" (Saks outlet)but is kind of rundown and not many other good stores. (THough I LOVE the outdoors and camping store) some call it the ghetto mall. there is another outlet mall in Kenosha wisconsin. again on I-94 go past Gurnee about another 15-20 miles which is smaller but has better merchandise and stores IMHO.

1 to 1-1/2 hours east is Lighthouse Center Outlet Malls in Michigan City, Indiana. No Saks-5th Avenue, but a great selection of shops.

Just aim for the nuclear reactor cooling tower. I am NOT kidding.

There's an outlet mall across from the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. Don't know if there's anoff 5th but there is a Nordstrom's Rack.

I would recommend the Prime Outlets in Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie. Their website has a link to the store listings.

Yes, there is a Saks outlet across from the Woodfield Mall. It's in the same shopping Center as the Nordstrom Rack-right arond the corner of the Service Merchandise store. Great deals. I was there a few days ago and bought a $1,100 outfit for $300. It's hit or miss, but when it's a hit, it's a hit!
