Queen Anne's Revenge (4 miles off U.S.64, Wanchese, tel. 919/473-5466) on Roanoke Island serves some of the best seafood on the coast; expect to pay $15-$25 per person, excluding drinks. In Nags Head, another good seafood restaurant in the same price range is Owens' Restaurant (US 158, MM17, tel. 919/441-7309). For something slightly cheaper, try Lance's Seafood Bar & Market (US 158, MM14, tel. 919/441-7501), also in Nag's Head. In Kill Devil Hills, consider Etheridge Seafood Restaurant (US 158, MM9.5, tel. 919/441-2645), a family-owned joint that's been around for a half century. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.

If you can, go to Okracoke ‹ it's much harder to get to and consequently is relatively unspoilt. There was a great restaurant there called the Pelican, but it may be gone by now.
But if you're stuck on the northern islands, try eating at the Fire Department. They host huge barbecues & you get to climb on the trucks.
