Outdoor vacation ideas

My husband and I haven't taken a vacation in a while and want to spend about 3-4 days in a fun place with plenty of outdoors stuff to do. We would enjoy hiking, fishing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, etc. Any ideas??

When are you going and where do you live? People can be very helpful on this site, but this is a very broad question for a very short vacation. Please be more specific!

I could strongly suggest either Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park , Teton National Park or the area of Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Telluride, CO.

Sorry about the vague post. We live in the Southeast--but are willing to fly anywhere in the continental US. We are going in June. Thanks!

I think I would want a week at Yellowstone and the Tetons, or in British Columbia. If you really are limited to about 4 days, then Glacier or the SW Colorado plan makes more sense. Northern New Mexico might be a good choice, as well.

If you decide on SW Colorado, major airlines now fly into Durango and Montrose. Southwest only goes as far as Albuquerque, but usually has the best deals.

For that short of a visit, I'd consider staying in just one town and make daytrips. The loop including Durango, Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride has every activity you've listed.

Maine is nice in June, Can do white water rafting, plenty of hiking & wildlife, fishing in either the ocean or lakes & streams. Tons to do & a real pretty area. Lot different from the South but nice in it's own way
