Orlando - Early May/Late May?
Mary, I'm the post above you! We have our Honeymoon 10 yrs. ago in Disneyworld on the week of May 16th. The weather was warm but not hot and the not at all crowded - some attractions had NO lines! Took the kids in late April 4 yrs. ago...sweater weather in the am. but warm by 10am. WDW pools are heated and we all went swimming, again no crowds.

Three years ago, we went during the last few days of May (after Memorial day) and the first week of June and it was GREAT! They were already starting the longer hours of operation, but most of the East Coast kids were still in school, so crowds were down. And to top it off, that is still considered the value season, as far as lower priced packages from Disney are concerned. We had rain every day, but only for about an hour each day.
We depart May 27th (the day of our 20th Wedding Anniversary) this year for 9 days at the Contemporary! Hope you have fun too.

Hi- from the sound of your letter I assume you don't have hotel reservations yet. Remember that this is the 25th WDW anniversary & getting hotels rooms at this late date will not be too easy. I'd suggest you call immediately. There really isn't that much difference, early or later May. It's a beautiful month down there. Later in the mouth attractions are usually opened later, but this being the 25th attractions are generally opened later anyway, even at this time of year. I believe that this decision might be made for you, depending on hotel availibility. And you really should stay on Disney property hotels. It's much better than staying off site.

Homer:
read a couple of your messages. You sound knowledgable about Orlando area. We are satying on I-Drive (did Disney last year, loved it) and plan to visit Universal, Sea World, etc. I've heard there are ticket packages for these parks. Where best to buy these? What are the best days to visit, especially Universal? We're staying Tuesday to Tuesday. What time do you suggest arriving? Do they open earlier than advertised, like the Disney parks? Thanks for any help.

We live in Orlando...I work at Sea World. The fall is a great time to visit. After Labor Day
the crowds have thinned out. It is still real hot though...stays hot until November. You can
certainly stay at a Disney Hotel, but you'll probably pay a little more. There are some very
nice hotels on International Drive. You should enjoy coming at that time.

Go as early in May as you possibly can. We went
a few years ago the first week of May and it was great. Lines to attractions were bearable where they existed at all. 2 years ago we went the first week of June and it was too hot, the lines to everything were at least an hour long, and there were entirely too many bratty little kids around to enjoy much of anything. The closer to the end of the school year you go, the more likely it is that parents will be taking the kids out of school for a week to go on vacation.

I just returned from Disney after staying there the week of May 11-18.
I would not recommend this time of year again. It was starting to get rather warm by week's end, 85 by noon under a blazing sun.
Also, lines werw long as this is the Disney's 25th. year, there were a lot of people with preschoolers, and the park opens at 9.
Disney is also very affordable now for many more people. I had an old 3 day pass from 1988. Then it cost $25 for a day in the park. Today ts only up to $39 for a day almost ten years later
We stayed at Cypress Point which is 1 light away from the Buena Vista park entrance and it still took us 1 hour to get from the hotel to Main Street in the Kingdom. Leave early. We started parking at EPCOT and taking the Monorail.
