ORLANDO AT CHRISTMAS

THINKING OF TAKING THE KIDS TO ORLANDO THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS. HOW CROWDED IS IT THIS TIME OF YEAR AT ALL THE THEME PARKS?

Brady;

I can only speak for Disney: It is really crowded, but lots of fun. If it's your first trip you might want to try a slower period. We've been several times in March and Oct. and saw very small crowds.

We started going at Cristmas after we'ld been many times before and our kids were teen-agers. We ride few rides and just enjoy the entertainment that is everywhere. We saw Art Garfunkle read the Christmas story at Epcot one year. Last year Starship (yes we're that old) played Epcot (for only about 20 minutes). There are marching bands and entertainment every where.

However, if your kids are small you might want to go when it is less crowded. Although maybe this year is will be less so during the holidays. Who knows?

I have only heard that Disney has been empty since 9-11. Disney is praying for crowds but I would doubt it. This may be the best year to go. Friends and families have all said it's empty and all the posts I've read here also describe short lines. In the news they keep saying that Orlando's tourism has dropped 40%. Don't know if they're getting ready to ask the gov to give them some money, but most people say it's quiet.

I have to agree with dejahma. It is (usually) pretty crowded around the winter holidays, however some of the best entertainment is to be had. Epcot is great with the reading of the Christmas story by a "famous" person, and they have a candle light ceremony where high school choirs sing christmas songs. MGM has the Osborn family christmas, where they light up entire streets with christmas lights (these were old movie set streets) and give you special 3d glasses to look at it all with. They also pump out loads of soap bubbles so that it looks like it is snowing. It can be magical. Also if the kids are really young they might enjoy Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I have never been, but have friends who went a few years ago and enjoyed it.

The week before X-mas might not be too bad. X-mas week is a zoo.
