no tom, i am visiting first time i am not sure whether to stay on my.hood/mt raineir or stay 1hr away from the entrace to mt.hood/mt rainier, i did not find any known hotel near by both but around 50 to 100miles there are good hotels

Are you saying that the Hood River Inn is not a good hotel?
If I wanted to visit 1 snow capped peak in the Cascades, It would be Mt. Hood. Mt. Rainier is not that much different except that it is a National Park.
For one location less than 100 miles from each, you would be staying in Packwood Washington. There are several places to stay in Packwood but none are as nice as Hood River along the Columbia Gorge.
There is still some snow on the 3 Sisters and Mt. Bachelor as well.
