Oregon in Feb, March or April?

My wife and I plan to visit Oregon, Portland and Eugene, in the next three months and would appreciate any suggestions on which month would be preferable and why.

Dear Tom:
Your choice of month may depend on what the weather will do to us. La Nina has so far given us a mild but very wet winter, and both US 101 and the coastal access roads from Portland and Eugene have flooded several times. A few, including US 101, have been washed out several times. A large chunkc of US 101 north of Florence has fallen into the ocean, and the highway is still one way in places, with slow going.
The advantage of going in February, however, is that migratory fowl still lingerer in the Columbia River marshes, and elk still feed in the lowlands.
The weather should improve by March, and you'll get to enjoy plum, cherry, and early apple blossoms. March is usually one of the drier spring months, but who knows what will happen in this weird year? You might even get snow.
By April the apple and other fruit orchards should be in full bloom, and many wildflowers should cover meadows and slopes. But the weather can be WET.
Take your pick. On the positive side,it doesn't matter if you don't mind the weatherm becasue the region is beautiful the year round.
Best,
John

John,
Thanks for the quick reply. Your advice is greatly appreciated and I may be able to take advantage of some good airfares now.

April. The later in the year you visit the better IMO weatherwise. As long as you come before the hordes of families and kids hit the beach areas in the summer.

What do you call two consecutive days of sun in Oregon?.....summer. Oregonians don't tan, they rust! Oregon Rain Festival: Jan 1 to Dec 31

Yur gonna get wet, folks. Just deal with it. Agree later is better, though. Be prepared to dress in layers...perhaps 6, all Gortex.

What crap Dave. Sounds like you are one of those Oregonians who don't want more Californians moving in so you spread BS about how our state is. There are MANY, many weeks and weeks that go by here of total sunshine. And hot too, wish it wasn't so hot so much in the summer. All this rain BS doesn't work long in scaring away the tourists Dave...but I hope it scared you away as Oregon could do well without you.

Just passed thru Oregon (Feb it is, isn't it?) and it was non=stop rain, so much that we could not see to drive. Oregon and Washington have the best months in July, Augs, Sept. However, we who live here don't mind the weather and have huge compensations--like the Rain forrest, etc. If you come prepared, you will have a great time. The beach on a damp day can be a wonderful experience. I think, of the three months you mentioned, April would be the best shot at some good weather.
